Humboldt and the equatorial Andes. Aesthetics and criticism in the plates referring to Ecuador
Keywords:
aesthetics and science, nature, Chimborazo, snow-capped mountainSynopsis
The present publication highlights that, for Humboldt, his stay in the equatorial regions of America meant the fusion of his aesthetic experiences with scientific knowledge and the first synthesis between the explanation of natural phenomena and the understanding of the human condition. This can be seen in his plates and texts. The author of the present edition updates Humboldt's knowledge 220 years after his visit to Ecuador.
