About the publisher

We are the publishing house of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ. We promote the mission of the university by disseminating knowledge to train, educate, research, and serve the community under the philosophy of Liberal Arts.

The origin of USFQ PRESS stems from the initiative to consolidate an editorial project that seeks to publish works of high quality and thus promote scientific dissemination, contributing to the cultural enrichment of the community. Through books, magazines, and monographic series, the press seeks to promote academic and cultural dialogue between the different areas of knowledge that are part of the university and that, in turn, are connected with various realities of our environment and the world.

Purposes and values

Our purpose is to create and forge a coherent, academic and creative publishing catalog through the publication of works that stand out for the values ​​that the university defends: freedom, beauty, kindness and truth. The objective is to expand the limits of university publications and expand the dissemination of knowledge, to enrich critical thinking and promote the various academic and cultural forms and expressions.

We stand out for our design, the academic rigor and the creativity contained in our editorial projects by professors, researchers, and authors recognized nationally and internationally. Our collaborative environment fosters an open culture that embraces diversity and values ​​community initiatives, to support professional growth and fuel curiosity and inquiry.

Vision

Our vision is to position USFQ PRESS as a pioneer publisher in new ways of expanding the availability and accessibility of knowledge for the sake of cultural exchange from which these meetings are nourished; in order to empower and inspire humanity.

Mission

Our mission is to select and edit works and research of the highest level of academic and literary quality; in order to publish serious works that promote education, foster understanding and enrich and share the generation of knowledge with the different communities, under the philosophy of Liberal Arts. We also align ourselves with the mission of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ and, therefore, we seek to reinvent academic publishing to educate, train and promote the generation and transfer of knowledge from multiple perspectives, respecting diversity and the voices of those who investigate. and they write; to transform and cross traditional limits and try to contribute to understanding and learning about the complexity of the contemporary world.

Editorial guidelines

What kind of works do we publish?

Our collections comprise the editorial lines and the contents that we publish in the different areas of knowledge at USFQ which, in turn, are the result of academic and scientific research projects, creative works, cultural studies of a disciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary.

Books (printed and digital)

USFQ PRESS books stand out for their design, format, presentation and content. We work on editorial quality to show arguments, debates and unique investigations in the country. The nature of our catalog stems from the interdisciplinary combination of projects presented under the collections and series created. So much so that we publish in fields as diverse as art, architecture, history, literature, biological and environmental sciences, health, gastronomy, business, administration, economics, anthropology, gastronomy, among other.

  • Literary work (novel, short story, chronicle, poems, anthologies, dramatic works, among others)
  • Reference work (dictionaries, atlases, bibliographies, technical standards, among others)
  • Other works (liberal arts, philosophy, self-knowledge, among others)

We receive book proposals from members of the USFQ community (professors, administrators, researchers, and students) and authors outside the university from other educational, cultural, or scientific institutions; which will be cataloged as co-editions.

Likewise, we receive book proposals from authors outside USFQ.
